EKADASHI VRAT

An important Vrat for all Vedic Sanathan Dharma to purify soul..

Bhagwan Mahadevji in conversation with Naradji

Naradji and Mahadevji talking about importance of Ekadashi Vrat

Naradji asked Bhagwan Mahadevji, What is the significance and process of Maha-Duvadashi (Ekadashi Vrat). Bhagwan please also let me know the virtues and the blessing obtained by keeping this vrat?"

Mahadevji replied, Brahman (is refered to Shri Naradji), Ekadashi Vrat by itself is the bestower of abundance of virtue and piousness. Even the greatest of great sages, Munis, Rishis are supposed to observe the Vrat of Ekadashi."

Naradji and Mahadevji's coneversation

Mahadevji added: Type of Ekadashis and advantages of these Ekadashis Vrats

The Ekadashi is formed because of an unique astrological Nakshtras Yog formation, which is on a Vedic Tithi 11th. Based on different Nakshatra of Sukla paksh on the Vedic Tithi, the Ekadashi is, classified as:-

Jaya:
When there is Puner-vasu Nakshtra of Sukla paksh on the tithi 11th, which is known as Jaya Ekadashi.
Fruit: By keeping Vrat on this Ekadashi you are sure that you are free from sins.

Vijaya:
When ever Shravan Nakshtra Yog is there in Sukla paksh Duvadashi (12th)than that tithi is known as Vijaya.
Fruit: On this pious tithi what ever you give in Dhaan and offer meals to Brahmin, its fruits are multiplied thousand fold. In addition, if you fast on this day your fruit is multiplied more than thousand fold.

Jayanthi:
When ever Rohini Nakshtra Yog is there in Sukla paksh Duvadashi (12th) than this tithi is called Jayanthi.
Fruit: On this day Seva of Bhagwan Govind (Shri Krishna) eliminates all the sins.

Paap-nashini:
When ever Push-ya Nakshtra Yog is there in Sukla paksh Duvadashi (12th) than this tithi is called Maha-punya-mai Paap-na-shini.
Fruit: Example, if every day you give Til (sesame) through out the year and the fruit you gain by it is same as fasting on Ekadashi day, and by performing seva, Purna Purshotam Shri Hari is satisfied and He appears personally to give Dharshan.

Shri Naradji asked who kept Maha-punya-mai Paap-na-shini Ekadashi Vrat and what was the fruit of it?
Sagar-nandan Kakutshth, Nahos and Raja Ghaadi with devotion and love fasted on Maha-punya-mai Paap-na-shini Ekadashi and offered prayers to Bhagwan and in turn, Bhagwan gave them everything on this earth itself.

Every human being who fast on this pious tithi can eliminate his sins of past seven births. Without doubt all the sins are destroyed associated by

  1. Kayik Karma (bodily)
  2. Vachik Karma (mouth)
  3. Man-sik Karma (mind)
Naradji

Ekadashi with Push-ya Naxshtra is the only Paap-na-shani Ekadashi, by doing Vrat on this auspicious day one can get fruit of thousand Ekadashi Vrats, human being taking bath in river/lake/well; by giving Dhaan, performing Jaap and Hoam (yaghya), Paths (daily routine prayer) and Bhagwat Seva gets fruit in unlimited way, known as Aksha, therefore always try to keep Vrat on Pushiya Nakshtra Ekadashi.

All Ekadashis that appears in Krishna and Shukla paksh, are Paap-na-shini (sin- eliminators), therefore, it is beneficial to commence if possible, all Ekadashi Vrat.
